The problem
Most workflow tools assign tasks to a single user. When that person leaves, goes on vacation, or never owned the work in the first place, the run stalls. Deadlines exist only as text, escalations live in someone's head, and managers spend half their week chasing status.

Assign to a person, a group or a role
Pick a specific user, a team ("Finance Approvers"), or a role that resolves at runtime ("Run owner's manager"). The right person is found even when teams reorganize.

Set due dates per task
Fixed dates, relative offsets from run start ("3 business days after kickoff"), or driven by a field ("3 days before contract end"). Cadenio respects business calendars and timezones.

Define escalation rules
Configure what happens when a task crosses its SLA: notify the assignee's manager, reassign to a backup group, or surface the run on a leadership dashboard. Escalations stack — first warning, then reassignment, then alert.

Track everything in the audit log
Every assignment change, due date update, and escalation event is timestamped and exportable. Auditors see exactly who was responsible at each moment of the run.

Vendor approval with 48h SLA per reviewer
Each reviewer has 48 hours. After 24h, a reminder fires. After 48h, the task auto-reassigns to a backup approver and the ops lead is notified — runs never stall on one person's calendar.
Customer Success
Onboarding tasks routed by account tier
Enterprise accounts auto-assign to the Enterprise CSM group. Mid-market routes to the role "Account Owner." When ownership changes in the CRM, future tasks follow automatically.
Compliance
Quarterly review with manager escalation
Each control owner has 5 business days. If overdue, the task escalates to their direct manager and surfaces on the compliance dashboard. The audit log shows when each escalation fired and who acted.
